Congratulations on your newest book from Wings. I see this will be your third futuristic/science fiction book, published with Wings.
1. Have you always written futuristic/science fiction?
So far, yes, I grew up with science fiction. But I still have that one mystery romance novel sitting on the back burner waiting for me.
2. How did you become interested in this genre?
I grew up with it and I still watch it. My father had to watch everything from Star Trek to Star Wars and the other paranormal shows.
3. How do you get your ideas for the foreign worlds you put into your books?
It comes to me when I least expect it.
4. Your futuristic characters have exotic names like Kai and Darr Xenobe. Where do you get the ideas for them?
Sometimes a phone book comes in handy, other times they come to me when I try not to think about too hard, VBG.
5. Do you have any favorite science fiction authors?
I want to say Dara Joy but I also like Kathleen Morgan and Jan Zimlich and they also write sci-fi romance genres.
6. What favorite science fiction television programs or movies grabbed your interest as a child?
Battlestar Galatica, I really loved that show and saw the movie a few months back. I hope they make a series.
7. What comes first for you? The science fiction or the romance, and how do you put it all together?
Both, and they come together on their own.
8. Tell us a little about Darr Xenobe, the hero of your new book. Was he fun to create?
Darr was a little lost boy who was taken from his family by The Alliance to serve their purpose. When the time came to change The Alliance, his ship was attacked and crash-landed in Shannon's backyard. He fell for her hard and fast.
9. What about your heroine? Where did you get the idea for her?
Shannon was your typical working girl with a jerk of a boss who couldn't keep his hands to himself. She lost her job but found an alien in her backyard one night when she thought an airplane had crashed. But she got a thrill of a life time with Darr.
10. Do you outline your books first, or do you sit down at the computer and just write them from beginning to end?
I write from Beginning to end, it's more fun that way.
11. What future projects do you have working?
A darker side of me, I'm working on a sequel to the first book due out in 2006 under the name Tammie Ainsworth
Thank you!
