Interview Susanne Saville

by W. J. Calabrese

1) I don't see another book listed under your name on the wings press Web site. Is The Secret Hunter  your first book?

The Secret Hunter is not my first book, although it is my first Regency romance. I write in the historical romance and the contemporary paranormal romance genres. Information on my other books can be found on my website: <http://www.susannesaville.com>

2) When and how did you decide that you wanted to become an author? Tell us a bit about your path to publication and how you pursued your dream.

I've wanted to be an author ever since I can remember. I wrote fiction stories for my own amusement--and that of my friends and family--for years. But I never really thought of submitting them anywhere. Then a few years ago, I published a non-fiction book about pug dogs. It was very popular and it inspired me to try getting published in fiction.

3) Gwenllian Lloyd! That's the name of a heroine to be reckoned with!

It's a good Welsh name. :)

4) Tell us something of the relationship between Gwenllian and Daniel.

Being as this is a romance, the relationship between Gwenllian and Daniel is integral to the plot. I don't want to spoil any surprises, so I'll just say, "Read the book." :)

 5) Is The Secret Hunter a one shot or can we look forward to the future adventures of Gwenllian and Daniel?

Actually, The Secret Hunter was originally conceived as the first book in a trilogy. But it also stands alone as a complete story.

6) How thoroughly do you plot you books before you write them? Are you a meticulous plotter, do you make it up as you go along, or do you do something between these two extremes?

Since The Secret Hunter involves a bit of a mystery, I had to plot it fairly meticulously. I normally have a general outline of where I'm going, and then I start writing and see if I get there.:)

7) I always hated when somebody asked me this question but where do you get  your ideas? (I always tell them if I get mine from radio waves from outer space and if you don't get two usable ideas a week you are not paying attention.)

Ah, perhaps I should stop wearing my tin-foil hat, then, and I'd get more ideas. :) Ideas lurk in many places for me. I generally discover them in libraries and museums. Reading about history is one of my main hobbies.

8) Do you write every day?? At the same time every day? You have a goal for a writing session (work a predetermined number of hours, produce a set number of pages)?

Umm... no... no... and no. I don't write every day and I'm certainly not structured enough to write at the same time of day. My muse likes to procrastinate.
