1) Who's your favorite author and why?
I'm sorry , we are not sure of this. Mum read a wide variety of both fiction and non-fiction.
2) How did you deal with rejection letters, if you received any?
Hanneke would often get dejected and stop writing awhile, but would always become motivated to continue, especially with publishing articles in local publications.
3) What has been your biggest struggle as a writer?
Getting published!
4) How long did it take to write and publish?
Approximately 2 years.
5) What inspired you to write Mended Wings?
Hanneke was inspired by her antecedants who were missionaries in Indonesia.
6) Tell us a little about Mended Wings.
It is an inspirational romance, intended to be lighthearted yet educational to the reader.
7) What are you working on now?
Eternity!
8) When do your characters come to life for you?
Not sure how to answer this one.
9) How do you handle Writer's Block?
Hanneke used gardening or reading as relaxation tools.
10) If I were sitting down to write my very first story, what would your advice be?
I'm sure Hanneke would say; "Write what you know". Her own life experiences and those of her family were interwoven through the pages of Mended Wings. Hanneke also enrolled in creative writing courses to assist with the technical side of authorship.
