1) Can you tell us a little bit about your book?  Who is the book targeted towards?

“Down the Shore” is about a young girl finally finding a little freedom before she heads off to college. Very naive and inexperienced with boys she finds herself being seduced by two who compete for her time and affection. Being a fairytale believer of true love, and not  the one night stand, Abby vows to keep her virginity, and not be another notch on  someone's bed post.

2) What do you want readers to take away from your book?

I would love young girls to understand that it's okay to not have a boyfriend and to fall into the peer pressure of today's world. That true love does exist and he is out there. Sometimes in placed you least expect.

3) What was the hardest part of writing this book?

The hardest part for me was trying to make it seem real. Creating characters that run true throughout the book and making them understand Abby's choices. This is the first book I've  ever written, so grammatically this took a lot of time to nail down.

4) What has led you to become a writer?

I can't quite put my finger on this question. I've only begun writing within the last two years. My kids are at school all day and I felt the need to do something that I loved. At forty years old, I finally found it.

5) How do you create your characters?

Some just pop in my head, others I outline. Music helps me a lot creating different scenes and how someone might react to something. I use images of certain people in my head when creating them. For this one, my main characters were real people. Colin's image is  the lead singer to a band I love and Abby's look was the image of a Victoria's Secret model.

6) Where do you get ideas for your novels?

They've all just kind of popped into my head. For “Down the Shore”, I think it always sat in the  back of my mind wondering why no one ever wrote a book about all the foreign students who head to The Jersey Shore to work for the summer. And what happens when a local girl  falls in love for him to jet away on a 757 at the end of the summer.

7) What do you like to read for fun?

I pretty much read anything Young Adult. I do pick-up the occasional best seller books, as well. However, my body always seems to steer toward the teen section.

8) What's next?  Are you writing another novel?  What is it about?

I am co-writing a teen romance with a writer friend. It's about a senior who feels like her whole world ends when her brother is killed. Finding solace in her brother's best friend is how she escapes all the pain.
