Interview Carol McPhee
by
Carol Parsons
1) Is this your first novel? If not, what are your other ones?
None So Blind was the first manuscript I ever wrote, but it was under another title. It is my 6th novel to be published by Wings ePress. The others are: Something About That Lady; Undercover Trouble; Be Still, My Heart!; Means To An End; Jeweled Seduction.
2) Do you write in any other genre than romance?
No. Only romance appeals to me to read or to write.
3) How long did it take you to write None So Blind?
That's hard to say. I produced the first draft in about three months, then kept revising it, then rewrote it entirely after I joined the Atlantic Canada chapter (RWAC) of Romance Writers Of America
4) How long have you wanted to be an author?
I would say about ten years.
5) How did you get the idea for None So Blind?
I wanted to write a story with a Nova Scotia locale. The rest just popped into my head day by day.
6) Do you have a regular writing schedule?
Yes. I always start my day at 4 a.m. and write until about 5:30 a.m. Then through the day I may find snatches of time to write on my current story but most likely I do research or critique other writers' work. I'm also a first reader for Wings and read on average three manuscripts a month.
7) Do you work from an outline?
I have, but generally I prefer to start fresh each morning and see what flows. I may periodically do an outline once I get mid-way into a new story. If I'm revising an old manuscript I don't always follow what I wrote before but at least it provides a guideline. On the other hand this makes it more difficult because I get ideas and notions I never had with the original.
8) What are your other interests besides writing?
Cross-country skiing, biking, camping, canoeing, walking in the woods, and especially traveling to visit our adult children and their families in Ontario and British Columbia.
9) What types of books do you read?
I really don't have time to read many books now. By the end of the day my eyes are too tired
10) Who are your favorite authors?
I like to read Deborah Hale, Julianne MacLeane and Cathryn Fox.
