INTERVIEW

* Angela Verdenius *

by Joanna Challis

1.      Hi Angela! Having read the first book in your Heart and Soul series, Heart of an Outlaw, I’m eager to hear about the next one. Can you tell us a little about Soul of a Mercenary?

It’s about a warrior woman with a dark secret that keeps her on the edge of insanity, and the Daamen trader who loves her enough to follow her into her nightmare.

2.      How do you think up such great characters for your books?

Wouldn’t have a clue! Ha ha! Seriously, they come to me when I daydream. They are who I wish to be, who I admire. I’ll let you guess which parts of me are in the villains…

3.      You’re a fabulous world builder. What inspired you to create the Heart and Soul series?

It actually started with my first book, then I became intrigued by some of the support characters, and just had to write their story. Before I knew it, I had a series going!

4.      When writing a book, what’s the most exciting part? Beginning, middle or end, and why?

The end, because it’s all come together, the characters have come through trials and tribulations, and fallen in love. Their story is complete. It’s the best feeling!

5.      Tell us one thing about yourself not many people know.

I sometimes have abandoned cats/kittens living in my lounge, needing homes. Want one?

6.      If your book was made into a movie, whom do you see as the male lead, female lead?

Kevin Sorbo and Sandra Bullock--though she’d have to change eye and hair colour, so she’ll probably look very different. I saw her in The Net; she plays serious parts really well.

7.      Ok. What’s your idea of the perfect hero?

One who stands up for what he believes in, has a good sense of humour, loves animals and children, and thinks my plus size is perfect and sexy! He’d also have to like raking leaves up, because I hate it.

8.      Do you intend to stay with Futuristic Romance or would you like to try something different?

I love writing Futuristic Romance, but intend to try another genre as well. I don’t want to limit myself.

9.      What advice would you give an aspiring writer?

Don’t give up, write in the genre you read, join writers and readers groups, and above all, believe in yourself.

10.  Who would you say has influenced your writing the most and how have they influenced the way your write today?

Dara Joy has influenced me a lot. I have no problems writing a humorous story in one book, a serious the next, a Futuristic, a contemporary, etc. She taught me through her writing that there are no limits. I also like how she pushes boundaries.

11.  If you had to live in another time period, what would it be?

The Victorian Era, but I’d have to be rich so that I wouldn’t have to wash all those lovely dresses that drag in the dirt!

12.  And lastly, what’s next from the pen of Angela Verdenius?

Well, I’m playing with the idea of a horror romance. I love chills, frights, and things that go “bump in the night”, so I figure I’ll have a go at combining two of my favourite subjects. Guess we’ll have to see if there’s a ghost of a chance…
